Project Registration

About project registration

Before beginning a new research project at the VCU Rice Rivers Center (RRC), researchers must complete a project registration form. This process helps our staff:

  • Assess project fit: We ensure that the field station can accommodate your specific research needs without disrupting active, ongoing projects.
  • Demonstrate impact: Tracking project data allows us to measure the station's success and show steady demand.
  • Track research outputs: Creating a record of projects at Rice enables us to identify and connect research outputs to their associated project.

Note that the information you provide may be featured in reports and public communications, such as our Active Project Viewer. If you have concerns about your project registration information being public-facing, please contact the RRC Data Manager before submitting.

Who should submit a form?

A project registration form is required for any new, independent research project located at the Rice Rivers Center or projects that recieve Rice Rivers Center support.

  • Principal Investigators (PIs) & Postdocs - If you are leading and running your own independent project, you must submit a form.
  • Undergraduate and Graduate Students - If you are leading and running your own independent project, you must submit a form. There is a dedicated student project registration form tailored specifically for undergraduate and graduate researchers.

If you are working on a project under someone else's direction (such as a lab technician or field assistant), you do not need to submit a separate form; only the project lead needs to register.
