Class Visits

We welcome VCU instructors to bring their classes to the Rice Rivers Center to leverage our ecological resources, facilities, and hands-on field experience.

Please note this is only for registered VCU courses. If you are outside of VCU and interested in hosting an event at our facilities, please visit our Reservations page.

Register your Class Visit

To ensure safety and guarantee we have the necessary resources to support your students, all class visits must be registered in advance. This applies to both single, one-time site visits and recurring, semester-long courses. 

• Complete the Form: Submit your details using the Class Visit Registration Form. 
• Questions? Contact our Operations Manager for assistance with logistics or planning. 
  • If class equipment or materials are being ordered and shipped to the Rice Rivers Center, please contact our Operations Manager to coordinate delivery and storage.

Field Safety Planning

Before heading into the field, instructors should establish a comprehensive Field Safety and Emergency Management Plan covering risk assessments, emergency procedures, safety gear, and training protocols. To simplify this process, VCU Occupational Health and Safety provide a complete Field Safety Guide and a Field Safety and Emergency Management Plan Template.
