“If you really look out at the future, water is the global crisis. People talk about the energy crisis, but we have alternative sources of energy. There’s no substitute for water.”
Director, VCU Rice Rivers Center
The Rice Rivers Center is at the center of understanding issues of water quality and achieving a sustainable balance between our limited water resources and the needs of society. We conduct internationally recognized research on large river ecosystems, starting with the James River and extending across the world.
The Rice Rivers Center takes a 360-degree approach to researching river systems. We’re not just studying water, wetlands, fish or birds; we’re studying it all. And then we provide stakeholders and policymakers with the science to implement game-changing environmental safeguards.
